FAQs
How do I know if I need therapy? You might benefit from therapy if you're experiencing any of these signs: Emotional indicators: Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or sad more often than not Having trouble managing your emotions or reactions Feeling stuck in negative thought patterns Experiencing mood changes that interfere with daily life Daily life impacts: Difficulty sleeping, concentrating, or making decisions Avoiding activities, people, or situations you used to enjoy Struggling with relationships or communication Feeling like you're just going through the motions Life transitions: Major changes like job loss, divorce, grief, graduating, or moving Feeling uncertain about your direction or purpose Wanting to develop better coping skills or self-awareness The bottom line: If something in your life doesn't feel right, or you're curious about therapy, that's reason enough to explore it. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from support. Many people wait until they're really struggling, but therapy can be incredibly helpful for prevention, personal growth, and building resilience. Trust your instincts - if you're wondering whether therapy might help, it probably will.
How do I know if my insurance covers therapy? Great question! Insurance coverage varies by plan, but most plans include mental health benefits. During our free consultation, I'll verify your benefits and explain: Your copay amount Whether you've met your deductible How many sessions are covered per year Any pre-authorization requirements I handle all the insurance verification so there are no surprises about costs.
How long does therapy typically take? The length of therapy varies greatly depending on your goals, the complexity of your concerns, and your personal growth process. Some people benefit from short-term focused work (8-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support. Factors that influence duration include: Specific vs. general goals Life circumstances and stress levels Previous therapy experience Personal preference for support frequency We'll regularly check in about your progress and discuss what feels right for your continued growth.
How will I know if therapy is working? Great question! Therapy progress can feel subtle at first, but here are some signs you're moving forward: You notice yourself handling situations differently than before Friends or family comment on positive changes they see in you Problems that used to feel overwhelming become more manageable You develop new coping strategies and actually use them You feel more self-aware and understand your patterns better You experience fewer intense emotional reactions or bounce back faster We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach as needed. Some people notice changes within a few weeks, while others see gradual shifts over months. Everyone's timeline is different, and that's completely normal.
Do you offer online/telehealth appointments? Yes! I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients throughout South Carolina. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions and offers: Convenience and flexibility with scheduling Comfort of participating from your own space No travel time or transportation barriers Same insurance coverage as in-person sessions We can also combine in-person and telehealth sessions based on your preferences and schedule.

What are your office hours? I offer therapy appointments on the following schedule: Monday: 9am - 6pm Wednesday: 9am - 6pm Thursday: 9am - 6pm Friday: 9am - 1pm I am not available for appointments on Tuesdays.
How often will I need to come to therapy? This depends entirely on your goals and needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions, then gradually space them out as they build coping skills and see progress. Typical patterns include: Weekly: For active work on specific issues or during difficult periods Bi-weekly: For maintenance and ongoing support Monthly: For check-ins and continued growth We'll regularly discuss your progress and adjust the frequency based on what's working best for you.
